So for the last few years I've had major issues accepting the whole Ableton scene taking over at DJ events, parties, festivals and what not.
Im not sure if it is/was just me judging others who "DJ" using Ableton or me dis liking the plethora of people, mainly youngsters, that are out there grabbing a torrent file of this software, stealing some lo-fi mp3's and playing at their first "rave".. whatever the combination was gave me a foul taste in my mouth.

TODAY... I have a few of the same feelings about the rookies stealing files/tunes and putting out Lo-Fi mixes that sound shady.... But whatever, I was a rookie once, and still am to many of the paid professionals out there! Maybe Im just envious that I put myself through so much trouble and worked so hard to buy the freshest vinyl and rinse those dope tunes each and every time.
I think thats called jealousy huh?...

So thats why Im here now dropping those judgments, I mean why the fuck would I have such strong feelings about people learning how to express themselves through art and music? wtf right??. Music and Art is AWESOME! And people who contribute are AWESOME as well!
So if I have shit on your parade about my remarks toward Ableton DJ's, please forgive me!

Got nothing but love for yall!

Keep putting out bangin mixes and support the artist you enjoy!

BOOM!

Heres the deal, coming from a background of beat matching and using ableton, there are enough heads on both sides of the fence that talk shit about each other, Im kinda over it.

So anytime I use ableton I dont know how to beat match? Or im an idiot for still wanting to scratch and play off of 1200s? The last thing this board needs is to turn into the constant nerdy bitching that is the ableton DJ forums. You have so many ungrateful new jacks coming from literally nowhere, have zero skill, USE ABLETON, and talk shit about people playing off of records or using Serato? wtf?

I RECOMMEND TO YOU ALL... Learn both sides of the coin. Learn beat matching on turntables, learn warping in ableton, learn how to scratch a little, learn how to effectively use a midi controller and assign practical uses with it.

fuck the format... the end result is what matters.

i started w vinyl, did that for years. then it was vinyl and 1 cdj then 2 cdjs then just cdjs. Now ive sold the cdjs and the technics are boxed in my closet and you know what... i dont care. in the end what matters is good music being delivered properly to the dancefloor. Ableton has a lot going for it in that dept, it can be super easy or it can take many hours more prep then traditional setups. its all in how one chooses to use their tools. Anyway, glad you got over the mental block against technology. just remember its a tool just like turntables or cdjs. what matters is how the artist uses those tools.

Eh i dont care what format DJs use just as long as whats coming out of the speakers sounds good to my ears.

Definitely hate naive Newjacks acting like they know the deal but this happens with every thing in life not just DJing.

Im all about respecting others. I Just bought my digital set up about a month ago but came from 7 years of vinyl DJing. I know ive posted this many times but I hate it when Vinyl DJs diss digital DJing for whatever reason. But at the same time i really hate Digital heads who think that vinyl is overrated or outdated etc.

respect for others is key.

But as well all know....

Haters gona hate

I agree with everything everyone's been saying on this thread. There are hacks and legit folks using every medium. And on a personal level, Konekta, it's good to hear someone actually revise the position they have on an issue. Far too often people ignore the other side's arguments because they don't want to be wrong. When people take other perspectives into account, we get PROGRESS. So word up.

definitely agree with this and with S.P.E.C.T.R.E. i started on vinyl around 2002 and played exclusively with that for years, and people want to heckle me because i've moved on? psh. i can still beatmatch, and as a matter of fact i've tagged with people using Ableton (and them using either Ableton or Serato/CDs); if anything, it's harder to do it that way since you have to manually key in the BPM and make fine adjustments using the arrow keys. lol.

people who get hung up on vinyl vs CDs vs Ableton can stay stuck back in 2000. see you in the future! ;)
