Time to buy a new laptop, I've had this old clunker for 6 years now...

I'm thinking Macbook Pro, but the new model's aren't out yet (apparently coming out any day now?)
Is it worth the wait? or should i go with an i5/i7 pc laptop, and hackintosh again?

Has anyone else used Hackintosh? I've been running it for a few years now, it is pretty stable once setup, but quite a serious bitch getting everything working in the first place.

What computer/OS are you running?

im rockin a ~3 year old macbook and it's been doing great for DJ'ing stuff (serato). I don't do production though so who knows.

I'm in that same boat right now waiting for the new MBP's to come out cuz my old macbook, while great for DJ'ing, sucks hard when it's time to edit and render video. :(

MBP ftw!

meanwhile, my tax return already got spent. 1200 in chicago parking tickets. sigh.

Mac pro for production and mbp for personal/gigging/etc.

I really dont like producing on a laptop, i prefer a nice workstation..

I'd wait for the new mbp. Hopefully it'll be a quad core and will have an express card slot.

I've considered going hackintosh as you can get a ripper machine for half the price of a mbp.

I'm pretty sure the new MBP's are core i5 / i7. not sure how many cores they have though.
As for hackintosh, it is tough to find a new pc laptop that will be 100% compatible with hackintosh.
my experience was that my laptop was about 1.5 years old before all the drivers had been properly hacked for the "new" hardware i had. I doubt i would buy a mac pro though, cause with a desktop you can totally customize the hardware and VERY easily run hackintosh 100% out of the box, just my 2cents.

edit: check this out

Seeing this topic was like a kick in the nuts..

The last two years I have owed, not really looking forward to this season..

All I can say is, thank the almighty what have you that Serato is such a light program.. The Ex took the new laptop, so for now I have a rebuilt HP from 2002... Seriously..

yup been doing it for like 3 years now. you gotta have the right hardware, and it is quite a bit of work to get it all up and running. but man it is sweet once it does.
