I've got a Suck My Kiss by Chili Peppers one for ya, I put it up in the dubs about a month ago. I can send that one to you if ya want. I've also been wanting to do a deftones remix for a while now, so maybe I can bang one out.

Deftones - Engine No. 9 is begging for it.....

says your track wont load, dont know if you took it off or if soundcloud is just being wonky.

concerning the rest of the compilation, i got an idea everyone: (and btw, if this isn't an idea you're receptive to, don't worry, you can ignore this message, just thought it might be cool for some)

alot of what i think might fuel a 'grungestep movement' (and i use the word 'movement' extremely loosely, lol) is not JUST the musical palette of people our age, but ALSO some of the political/economic/cultural factors.. the wars going on, the effects of an 8-year republican administration, the recession, the backlash to annoying party-party-bright'n'happy 80s electro flashback nonsense, etc etc. and "grungestep" more or less playing a role as being a kind of ironic nostalgia...

with this in mind, i was thinking about how interesting it might be to mention these things, any and all of them, throughout the mix, in the form of audio samples of... say, news clips, interviews, old and new- vocals, from movies, basically, anything that makes you stop and think for a second, and adds thought to the music we're doing.. music commentaries, critiques, people talking about old grunge music, people talking above rave and dubstep and glitch, or even quotes that reference the whole thing indirectly (like, for example, a scientist talking about mixing two opposite chemicals together, relating to grunge mixed with rave... hah) -- could be at the beginning of a track, at the end, in the middle, whatever..

again, maybe no one will pick up on the idea because it wont work for them, or they think it's stupid, whatever, it's all good, just thought i'd bring up this idea.. to maybe add more background to the album, build it's context a little bit, really SHMACK listeners in the ears AND the mind.

lemme know how ridiculous this idea is everyone :D

Anyone on here good with creating banner ads? i've done it before but feel like it could probably be done better by someone who actually knows what they're doing with internet graphics more than I do. Hit me up, anyone who is interested.

i've got a better idea, how bout, instead of remixing old grunge rock tunes, you go ahead and invent the genre grunge step.

you've got a template (grunge rock), just follow it but use glitch hop as the base. so... make dirty, not wobbly basslines, make lead rhythm riffs that use 3 chords, and then try to make a lead synth that sounds like someone is very very sad and doesn't know how to sing. (or hey, maybe get an mc to make some sad lyrics?)...

play all of these instruments live and make it very sloppy.

then go get a producer who turns your music into something palatable for the masses to consume!

@Superchibisan:

haha. nice idea. you should read my recent post in the General tab, "Vomiting into a Prostitute's mouth," i mentioned some ideas for going further than dubstep / glitch remixes of grunge, and actually making original tracks out of it...

not as humourous as your post, but still, check it out.

and actually i agree, making a grungestep music ideally is what i want to aim for after the grungestep remixes, but i know that people will be turned on to the sound by remixes of their old favorites, before a self-actualized "grungestep" genre were to emerge. ha. at least, thats my thinking on it.

plus, these remixes are fun as hell :D

but yea, i like your thinking on this, i was thinking something similiar myself, and i will be sure to incorporate and/or steal all the ideas you have put up that i haven't already thought up myself.

:ugeek:

btw
you wanna make original grungestep tracks with me? lets create some grungey battle breaks !
and the slopiness idea is awesome ! lolol

hey everyone, i have been busy, and then was in the process of moving, so i haven't really been able to devote time to the mix as much as I would like. but, i also figure that could give some producers time to finish their tracks last minute.

so, i am at a starbucks now, and will be moving into a house later this week and get internet there soon, so im back !!!

now, anyone still have any grungestep for the mix that they have not yet submitted? now's def. the time to show me :joint:

thanks everyone !! :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez: :pez:

GRUNGESTEP gets hardcore hated on !!!!

its kinda funny actually..some people are making ok points, but some people are TRYING to take things out of context, it's hilarious:

btw, last chance, if anyone wants to turn in a grungestep track, now really is the last chance. im sorry ive had to keep pushing it back on the release date, but it should be the first week of the 4th of October.

i think it works if its like one or two tunes in a set. Can you image someone playing a whole set of glitch grunge remixes? shit would get old real fast.

i don't think of it is a genre, more just something people might do for a bit of fun/something different/a bit tongue-in-cheek.

anyway heres my remix of Weezer - We Are All On Drugs.

http://soundcloud.com/blitchy/drugs-remix

before you hate on it, remember its just experimentation, if you don't like it, don't listen.

yea, i dont expect it to be one of the big headlining history making genres... i dont expect to see, when i open a music history book, for it to look like:

chapter 1.... 1920 - 1959 (JAZZ)
chapter 2.... 1955 - 1995 (ROCK)
chapter 3.... 1965 - 1975 (FUNK)
chapter 4.... 1977 - 2009 (HIP HOP)
chapter 5.... 2010 - 2025 (GRUNGESTEP)

and btw, i know jazz goes on longer than 1959, it's just a joke...

but still, i know it's a fun project people will rock out/ rave out too... hmmm...
((( i wonder if there will be more ravey dancing/swaying, or more moshing? ...probably more raving...)))

but anywho... the grungestep thing is openly transitional... there are more and better things to come..
but remixes of 90s tunes are a good way to get people back into a certain mood, musically, in my opinion.. but later on, i do want do create a project where i sample old grunge tunes the way hip hop artists sample old funk and soul records (or.. used to.. they don't as much anymore, and i could rant on that for ten an a half pages, but i won't.. ill only do it for three or four sentences.. (((c'mon soulja boy, buck up or fuck off, you little twit, making music your parents wont like? they don't hate it cuz its offensive or noisy, they hate it cuz it's bad hip hop and they remember tupac and biggie, and you ain't shit, you goddamn little bastard, Soulja. Idiot.))))

:blahblah: :blahblah: :fire:  <---pretend like that's coffee.. not beer.. cuz its 7 42 am here in denver..
