So I just had a tweet come thru from Mochipet via Kraddy about the Android Porn remix he did (side note - is it slightly narcissistic to RT tweets that say you are awesome.... I guess you could call it social proofing but I dunno)

So I went to the link which took me to the Facebook post with an embedded Soundcloud link and the link to buy which was iTunes..... that's pretty much where I stopped - I fucking hate iTunes and it's tedious closed system and I thank god that for the most part almost all the artists I buy music off roll with Addictech.
Hopefully he brings it out on Addictech soon.

Anyone else fight the iTunes system?

Down with iTunes and their 128 kbps ways!

I really only shop at Addictech. Just wish they carried everything I wanted. They are oh so close to it though.

I cant wait for this Libton Mar 1st!

never bought a thing via the itunes store. The word 'hate' comes to mind and I try hard not to use that term.
don't have an account, don't have apps on my phone, etc etc. I've used and loved most of my apple hardware products over the years, but the itunes store hurts my heart.

in a cage match, addictech would be wearing itunes' earlobes on a necklace (nam-style) within minutes.

Boys boys, you are still lucky as regards itunes. Here in Poland we are BANNED from using itunes, well at least we cannot buy tracks from itunes. And this form of FASCISM in the modern net-based world forces me to react in simplest (and silliest) way: FUCK iTunes :!: :!: :!: Long Live Addictech, Junodownload and Boomkat.

I think iTunes, as a marketplace, is dumb from the viewpoint of the consumer; but as a label, I almost have to sell tunes through iTunes as a sign of credibility, which doesn't really make sense. So far we've made like 20 times as many sales on Addictech than iTunes.

Frankly, Addictech's system where you can download tracks in your preference of encoding is above and beyond 95% of all other digital retailers out there. It's awesome that its widely used in the glitch-hop circles and based in America - those are two things I really feel good about. iTunes earnings go into building submarines for people who can't spend their money fast enough.

never bought anything off itunes myself. when i didnt care about the quality of my music, i didnt buy because of DRM. now i'm weary of AAC and there's so many more places to buy from nowadays.

addictech is obviously dope for DJ's because of the encoding preferences but realistically it doesnt carry much of a selection. it seems fairly limited to midtempo/glitch hop stuff and even then it's still meh for selection. for instance...where are the new android porn remixes?

Addictech has a ton of dubstep tunes. They don't get everything, but I say half of everything that is good comes through Addictech.

PS. Aside from garage, I don't really care about anything that is not dubstep or glitch-hop, so Addictech is perfect for me. :)

Im also completely anti itunes here, no company whos main interest lies outside music should have a monopoly on sales, its so bad for music .

its a real pitty you can't buy apps outside the app store (i dont want to go jailbroken), another exaple of an apple sh'tty lockin.

Itunes is what the masses use to get their music. If your not a DJ or involved with the industry or scene in some way you probably get your music from itunes so for reaching those people it can be good to have your tunes available from itunes. Im not the biggest fan but I always have a money on my itunes account just in case.

As far as a label point of view is concerned the itunes application process is a pain in the arse, the terms are nowhere near as agreeable as other online shops and the pricing is just too low for smaller labels. PLUS the sound quality just isnt on par. 256's instead of 320's!? WHAT?!

all in all itunes is a bag of shite but its a necessary evil

to be fair, it's 256 AAC, not 256cbr MP3. not really comparable just by the bitrate alone.

why not jailbreak?

It's super easy to restore to factory if you need to use waranty.

I wouldn't have bought an iPhone if I couldn't jailbreak it, there are too many ristrictions otherwise.

I've never spent a cent in the iTunes store on aps, and I wouldn't dream of buying music from them. As mentioned, why would you buy music from a massive multinational hardware brand when you can buy from companies that actually support the music scene?

I personally see selling music as a negitive sum gain in the modern day anyway, but regardless of that, apple is intentionally holding music back. Our Internet connections are easily fast enough to justify high quality music downloads (mp3s were invented for the 56k/data CD Market), and apple rejected Masenburgs insulated soundcard approach, despite the fact that it would only raise production costs by less than a dollar, and significantly increase audio quality.

They don't give a fuck about music. They see it in terms of profit or not profit, and sure I'm fucking wasted and stoned right now, but I for one still happen to see music as art.

Fuck the cunts.

Pretty much why Ive moved past my iPhone crush and am now deciding what Android to get

The only music Ive ever bought off iTunes is major label albums using a gift card, years ago. Wait, take that back... I got one dubstep tune with that card too. Never played it cause it was before Serato supported iTunes songs.

I think iTunes the software is excellent, I personally don't buy digital media at all though. If its not out on vinyl (or sometimes CD, though I hate the medium) I typically wont buy.

As far as the iTunes App store, I don't really see the problem. What are your gripes about it?

By the By, Android phones are great but from speaking with a developer a few months ago, none are really at the level to run apps like Beat Maker or Argon, which is a big minus to me, personally.

Oh and tried the jailbreak, didn't stick. Very disappointed as I really liked having 5 apps on my dock.

There have been several occasions in the past where I emailed artists directly to beg them to sell their tunes on Addictech because of my hatred for iTunes, or I offered to pay them directly via Paypal so that all the money went directly to them instead of to some middleman. Apple has already gotten enough of my money as it is, bastards.

I detest iTunes. I don't buy from there, and to be honest, not really concerned about getting my label on iTunes either.

to reiterate - itunes is for casual listeners etc, NOT djs/producers.

buy from juno, addictech, boomkat, bleep, bandcamp....

actually, just going to throw this out there and feel free to shoot me down, BUT....

i sometimes buy from play.com

alot of their music is at 320.... and theyre only 70p.....

admittedly, the only things ive bought have been stupid things like TV theme tunes or a few mainstream bits i want for mixing some comedy mashups.... Bucky O'Hare vs Britney, Dizzee Rascal vs Eastenders, etc....

Play also seem to be the only mainstream site selling 320s regualrly, amazon maily sell 256s and itunes = weak

anything i want that might be played 'straight' etc i get elsewhere, like the aforementioned sites/
