Compressing music should be a crime! MP3's shouldn't exist now we are rocking terabyte hard drives!

Listen up DJ's > be kind to your dancefloor, you have a responsibility to deliver the best sound possible. Play WAV or AIFF or a lossless format. ...and the universe will love you for it!

Good point ! but i'm guilty of playing mp3 when i mix (i bought all your sound in mp3 for instance...). I always considered that no one really feel the difference as in party people listen with one ear. Moreover i'd prefer playing a 320 kbps mp3 on a high quality sound system than playing a wav on a cheap one ;)

... but at the end you're right :P

4 more bits for each channel. CD is 16 bit, DVD-audio is 24 bit. For each 1-bit increase in bit depth, the signal to noise ratio will increase by 6 dB. Perceived loudness would increase from 96dB to 144dB, but because of hardware limitations, we really only get a quality of 21bit at around 124dB.

*You're going to sound about 50% louder and much clearer than the guy who played before you.

will there be any sort of repercussion for mixing 16 bit and 24 bit wavs? will the 24 bits sound shitty in comparison?

this is becoming off-topic, but hey, shouldn't 32 bit be the best quality ?

I am guilty of playing the lowest quality shit you ever heard - IF I'm doing a theme & it goes with the theme....I'm like the Queen of Theme, lol. Everyone seems to very much appreciate my themed efforts even with the super shit-quality parts...peeps are like  :o :fullretard: :D
Although if I didn't have a good reason then I would try not to go there....but for my crazy AV sets THEME IS SUPREME over evvvverything!

:D

Don't think you will sound 50% louder. if you could even identify a 24bit 48000 wave over 16bit 44100 wave over 50% of the time on a loud system in a club I would be shocked. due to speaker systems and resonant rooms to hear the noise floor raising at almost inaudible amount would be a ridiculous feat. in fact I can barely hear it in a sound treated room. not hating on 24 bit, it opens up a lot of breathing room for the mix. I export all my tracks at 24bit 48000 even but I really doubt you could tell on ubercompressed EDM on a dancefloor.

yes 32bit 192000 is the highest quality possibly but a song in that form is like 500mb haha...

mp3s suck tho... but really of it's a shitty mixdown using a wave wont help (captain obvious in the house :) )

^^ indeed. my best musical investment to date was to buy earplugs cuz nothing finishes your ears off more than that tea-kettle redlined through a digital mixer then blasted full volume by a shitty sound tech. hi-fi baby!

i play 320s all the time and they sound fine. Doing a 5+ hour set with WAVs is just plain impractical. Not to mention 90% of the clubs out there have shit soundsystems anyway.

until laptops come with 100tb HDs Mp3s are gonna be the standard.

When i do hour long sets on proper rigs i aways make an effort to play the best quality stuff though.

most of my track selection consist of 320s, until the beggining of this summer when i started collecting wavs but thats only the music i purchase but alot of the songs i like to play are given away for free and well usually those trax are 320 only.so my sets contain half and half. i wish everyone would share wavs.

just curious, but, is it different in the UK, as far as shitty club sound systems being the standard? I mean are there better systems there? Or maybe somewhere else? Im in the US and I know Ive been to a few clubs with real reaal dope systems, and even more with shitty ones. the only club i tried to get into in britain i wasnt allowed to go into cuz i was like 16 lol.. it was also funny because there were two bouncers, one was Jamaican and wanted to let me in, the other one was German and was strict and didnt want to let me in. haha. that's a little off topic i guess but i dont care.

There's a reason I have my own sound system :)

But yeah, .wav is the way to go. It costs $70 to buy an internal 500gig drive, and on sites like addictech, it's only $.25 or so more per track for FLAC. Worth it to me. You can't tell on shitty sound systems, but like I said, there's a reason I have my own. If I'm gonna spend the money to buy a top of the line mixer and nice amps, why I would I want to cut corners on my source material? Your sound is only as good as the weakest link in the chain. Now I gotta buy better cables ...

shhhhhh, you'll put businesses out of work.

I'd like to think high quality recordings/output would effect a crowds reaction to the music. But to be perfectly honest, it's only techs/FOH who would actually give a flying fuck. Punters just don't care.

Using anything below 320 is extremely obvious though. Remember to stick on the HiQ button on all your ableton tracks at least guys!

Its all love on this forum. I just want the best for everybody on here. Ive learned so much from this group of people and I see you all crushing it. People are really starting to wake up to glitch-hop. Sorry about the comment earlier. I really didn't mean to misguide people. Im no musical authority. Im just a weirdo.... I like weird music. I love it when shit's hatty. I love to get down to skwunc when Im hotboxing a dust blunt in the trunk. :fire: :joint: Sometimes I ghetto blast the alien funk-blaps that warped to planet earth from GHF, like Im trying to infect people with this disease of infectious beats. I shoot pixels and craft lazers mayne. I need those 8 bits. They really come in handy.
