not really music related, but i'm starting a design blog and i'm doing a project of one creative scannable qr code a week. i just posted my first one and it's going to be hard to top:
Glitch Hop Forum
i'm so fucking proud of this. :D

go ahead, give it a scan...

if anyone wants me to make one with their own url , send me a pm. it's in vector, so i can make it any size you want.

seems like a pretty effective way to grab people's attention.

i'll be posting them on http://canceroflove.wordpress.com/

did you follow a tutorial to come up with this genius? or is this madness purely your own creation?

I can proudly say this was all my idea. the only other fully stylized QR i've seen is that one made of oreos. that got me thinking about how far you can push the shape recognition. it turns out, pretty fucking far.

maybe i could make a tutorial and put it on vectortuts+ or something. or i could make an app that generates em. :)

all i know is, i could like- save an orphanage full of kittens, and i'd still be more proud of this.

and since there seems to be a lot of interest in it, i'll do a free one for the first ten people who PM me (and the people who have already posted.) for now. cause it's a little labour-intensive.

just send me a message with the URL (or phone number, or whatever) you want.

hey so i thought i'd mention this cuz it reminded me of your QR of the Week; i was at the grocery store yesterday and saw -- on a banana - a little url / qr thing. on a banana! i was conflicted because on the one hand, sure, they want you to go their informative and mezmorizing banana-based website.. on the otherhand its like... damn, they have the internet on fruit, now? ;) i blame you!

Funny story - a lot of companies use those now to allow you to scan the QR on your mobile or type it in a website and then they pop up a little map that shows you where the banana came from. I spent a few years doing food traceability software for farmers using QR codes (actually we called them "2D barcodes" but it's the same thing), so yeah I may have programmed the back end data capture and label applicator for what you were looking at.

Problem with the thing is because commercial food passes through tons of distributors before landing @ your grocer they can know where the food originated but not really where it went after that. And it is incredibly hard to do traceability for things like bag salad and other mixed products.

Anyway /geek rant
