omgosh, ill-esha! if you are awkward and anti-social with people you don't know, you sure had me fooled, lol! I am a pretty damn nice ass person and even I was surprised at HOW SUPER NICE you were to all the random peoples at the Twilight Zone known as Dex Fence...we even kept kickin it with those weirdo dudes who were screaming "fuck the police" at the police which didn't even seem to phase you and your ultra niceness while I was thinking omg, let's get out of here, RUNNNN! Hahaha

Often times, even the nicest people with true, clear aura's or whatever serve as great mirrors to others which is why they can sometimes be perceived as assholes, lol ;)

It is so easy for people to judge someone based on one meeting.

Guess what people?!?! You have probably all snubbed someone at one point or another. We are all human and can't be perfect every second of every day. I'm sure there are people out there who think I'm a complete asshole for snubbing them on days where I feel cranky or shy.

I've had people snub me before but later became really good friends with them. Everyone has their off days!

I also know this chick, (Id straight sock someone in the face for this chick if it needed to happen, sometimes its necessary) she is down to earth, friendly, sharing, compassionate, and she makes better tracks than your favorite producer...

AND!!!! before a majority of people even knew about glitch hop, her and dewey's crew (IGU) were holding down glitch nights in Vancouver CA, holding down weekly radio show and also helped create this forum

so basicallllly any of you talking shit can suck a fuckin dick up ;) .. thanks and merry xmas

Thanks guys, and Angryrancor, I wasn't mad at you, kinda just blowing off steam in all directions. I think it is a testament to how amazing this board is that people can discuss and have different opinions and still be supportive. Much Love.

Very true.

lol Welcome to Nor Cal. Im not a fan of the nitrous and have never fucked with the Deem but I see it all the time. Almost as much as acid and mdma. Coming from the Reggae crowd of mostly herb and mushies it was a little overwhelming at first.

I had been waiting all night to play my set and RIGHT before I was supposed to go on (After Virtual Boy, and I had planned a special set just for that time) I was suddenly told that Quade decided they felt like driving back to LA ASAP and so they were going to bump me two hours ahead to 5 am.

Everyone around me was fucked up. By the time my set came around I was incredibly tired because guess what, I am usually the sober person at the festival, especially when I'm working. I was also pretty pissed off for being bumped at the last minute, as at this point it was 4:55 am instead of 2:55 my audience had dwindled to about thirty people who were all completely retarded off their ass on nitrous. I have photos of people with bare asses as their pants fall off and they are just so fucked up they don't care. So yeah, I was sober, cranky, on the verge of tears, and probably someone telling me "good luck" at that moment was not appreciated. And I am sorry for that. You can tell your ex girlfriend I am terribly sorry, and I mean it, for making her feel unappreciated.

Hey thats really cool of you. I HONESTLY HAVE NEVER MENTIONED THIS until now. We were standing in a circle and all were chatting it was mentioned "yea this is ill-esha shes on next" and my ex was like "o cool! goodluck!" and you looked waaay pissed as you walked away(you said something but I cant quote it). I figured you were annoyed we didnt know who you were or your "status". But hey dont know you and I went off what I saw. And I was standing on the hill watching the whole scene unfold while you played. Believe it or not that was the night(morning) I became a fan of your music. I heard you play some hitters that morning I still havent heard since(your singing was legit too). I have met quite a few asshole artists and in the moment THAT WAS THE RUDEST I had ever seen from a EDM artist. I have rapper friends who have been WAAAAAY worse but thats irrelevant to this board. But it didnt change what I think about your abilities. I even looked up your website afterward for personal lessons. I understand now and I definitely appreciate your input. I fucked up and pointed you out way to much. Wasnt my intention but looking back and after hearing others input it was beyond obvious. Pretty much the last six months ive seen a lot of cool artists turn in to divas or be consumed by their partying and have lost their way. Ive watched this place (actually a few) slow to a crawl and soundcloud is super clicky imh (and its not all artists fault either) and im just tired of seeing EXCELLENT ARTISTS(not myself lol) get overlooked, and I feel like the first wave of Dubstep/EDM artists used up a lot of the Internets best resources for the scene and the excitement and camaraderie is gone. and whats left is CLICKS AND BS. And whoever doesnt like my opinion fuck you (just kidding) (lmao seriously just kidding)
So I brought up the first time I seen such a reaction in the scene. truly nothing personal.
And this is just my perspective. Which is all I was trying to add to the conversation to begin with. So all of you who plan to post in disagreement I probably wont respond. Would rather get back to things more directly music related. This is my time away from work and if im not spending it with family I want it to be productive.

Kind of knew this but nice to hear it from an artist

Quote:

Breaks my heart and blows my mind and makes me dislike average(at best) artists who network well even more. (and if that offends anyone kiss my ass. No really. Kiss my ass and stop being offended so easily)
I feel like if I was awkward and shitty on stage people might understand, if I stared intently into my computer screen as if I was checking email, if I didn't move at all when music was playing - - perhaps then people would see me as the nerdy weird awkward person I am. Unfortunately for my reputation, I'm super good at appearing comfortable on stage.
Well on stage you have me fooled. Keep doing what you do, and sorry if I offended you. Next time we cross paths I will make sure to wait around after the show so I can introduce myself and give you an opportunity to kick my in the shin.

AND THAT WAS MY QUOTE, not STRANGEBREW's (for the "record")

I hear ya on the awkward and antisocial thing ill-esha. That's sums up my personality as well. I can be completely socially inept when trying to talk to strangers or even people I haven't seen in a long time.

just reading through... i miss this forum :) GHF is whats up, i should try to visit more regularly.

Anyway, i wanted to say that perhaps a way that this site could 1) generate more hits/users/discussions and 2) make the dubs section a more "playable" selection, would be to emulate the success of sites like dubstep.net, theuntz.com, and others where artists/labels can arrange a free download feature with the sites mods. A lot of sites get mad traffic due to their reputation for having good tunes for download, and GHF has been one of them, but perhaps a more moderated and highlighted version of the dubs/previews section could get this place buzzing again.

I think this is a great idea, and I know GHF already has a featured dub forum too. A lot of those places probably increase traffic this way due to promotion done off the site with links leading back to it. If a featured dub was exclusively available at GHF, then people would have to come here to get it. It might be good if GHF has a facebook/Google+ page/group to help promote these sort of thing as well. Threads considered important could also be shared on these social networks. Then people who pay more attention to their social networks would be more encouraged to come to this site and participate.

I also disagree with the all encompassing "bass music" forum. I just picture it getting cluttered with dubstep, and what brought us all here to begin with falling between the cracks. Glitch hop is still young, fresh, and growing... there are many people who are still figuring out what it is. Hell beatport just added it's genre to their site! Why cloud it or clutter it with other music that wouldn't have belonged here previously?

I think we're still running pretty strong. I get all the new posts and I try to do a few a week if I can find the time in between work and production. We did the last competition and there were an amazing amount of entries as well as an insane judging panel which crossed the boundaries of genre. Got our own Beatport chart and this is really one of the beginnings for us. I can't say I have any regret for the knowledge and friendships I've cultivated here. I've seen so many friends blow up and make their mark and have been able to ask questions from some of my greatest inspirations.

So is it dead? I wouldn't say so. Glitch Hop itself is so many different things and that's one of the best things I've learned from this forum. There is still an amazing amount of talent to be found as the sound evolves.

:o just finished reading this whole drama thread... hadnt seen one like this in a while

:boohoo:

In my opinion, I dont think Glitch Hop is dead or will ever die.... What may die is "X" or "Y" persons' interest for the genre, maybe for jumping on a new bandwagon or such. I for Instance, have always liked broken beats, so I will always prefer genres such as breaks, hip hop, drum n bass, dubstep and all its sub genres over 4 on the floor beats or whatever those house type beats are called (not to be taken as if I dont like them at all!!). So at least in my mind, glitch hop will always be alive and will always be the best thing that has ever happened to hip hop and I am forever thankful to this forum and its cool people!!! I have discovered awesome tracks and I have learned lots of production techniques here!!!

Lets all have a beer and be friends now

For the record I never suggested that glitch hop was dead, just that the forum had slowed a bit. Glitch Hop will never die.

hmm i think some newer users that are just fans of glitch-hop and future bass music might be intimidated by the fact that almost everyone on here that actually post are at least somewhat advanced producers.

maybe there could be a section revamp... separate areas for discussions for producers, for DJs, for promoters and for general music fans?

i also like the idea of having a "featured" dubs section in addition to the regular one. i stopped going in the dubs forum because it became harder and harder to find stuff i enjoyed which kinda made me go on the forum less since thats what usually brought me here (though i do think it is GREAT for new producers to be able to get feedback from more advanced producers on their work.) must say though, it has been very cool to see lots of the old amature producers that first started posting their work on this forum bloom into great composers and go on to release successful EP and LPs on established labels.

I quite like that a post mentioning that it's a little quiet is so popular :)

The forum is great, as many people have said, it seems that there's a high percentage of people on here making music, DJing, putting on shows etc so that's great for being able to speak directly to them.

The music is growing as well, it's getting more and more popular and fusing with other genres all the time. This will make more and more people come here and it'll grow organically.

Life is good.

Seriously, this place is one of the most informed, helpful and well intentioned forums out there so everyone keep it up. Have you seen some of the bullshit school playground level arguments out there on other forums and pages of Skrillex haters?

Now go check my soundcloud and download some tunes! haha :)

It'd be good for GFH, I think, if when clicking on links a new window opened rather than taking you off the site...

Here is exactly what it's like if you try to post on dubstepforum:

Dubstep forum does have A LOT of angry internet kids on it, but it does also have a tonne of great technical advice - a search on that forum almost always delivers something of use.
