Velocity
"Your number one modulation tool is velocity. It is the easiest to get at from the piano roll and will save
you a lot of automation time. Try gently routing velocity to drum cell parameters such as volume, filter
frequency, pitch, pan, time stretch and whatever else you can."

Can someone please explain this to me? I'm not getting how to route velocity to drum cell parameters or am I able to get at it in the piano roll.

Thanks for any replies!

First post for me ... been lurking and learning, so I thought I might try to contribute. Anyway, to answer your question, I hope, you can adjust velocity sensitivity within drum racks, in the simplers/samplers holding your drum hits. Let's say you have a drum pad containing a snare sample. Look inside the simpler that's holding the sample. In the amplitude/volume section on the far right, you'll see a box labeled "vel" under the volume and LFO boxes. Push the value up to 100% and the volume of that sample will be 100% velocity sensitive. Look to the left in your filter section and again you'll see a box labeled "vel" ... push the value up to 100% and your filter cutoff will be velocity sensitive. You then adjust velocity of the hits in your drum pattern from within the piano roll, and you should hear the difference. Until you've made some aspect of the sound (such as volume, filter cutoff) subject to velocity information within the smpler, however, changing the velocity of the hits in piano roll will do nothing. Hope this helps.

so I used the apc40 template for the 1st time out, and although Itll take getting used to just like anything, I love it. I also have a mpd24 but have never used it to DJ with and Im really having a hard time wrapping my head around it and I have watched the vid over and over but its more for the mpd 32. Is there a chart or something that has what each thing does by chance? I cant seem to figure out how to scroll downward to select the clips below the ones playing when, also I like the dummy clips, but the dont turn off when I want them too. Im sure its something super simple but I have dain Bramage apparently.

much love and respect
Bradley
