ive decided i wanna start making glitch hop. i love music but i dont even know where to begin. any idea what i will need to get/know to start making great music?

First you need to pick your workstation. Ableton Live is a good place to start. It's relatively easy to pick up and it's warping system is great for remixing as well as manipulating samples and loops. Some other options are programs like Pro Tools, Cubase, Reason, or Logic if you're on a Mac.

Once you've picked a DAW, you'll obviously need to learn it. There are plenty of great tutorials on youtube and other sites, but in my experience, the best way to learn is from working with other producers. If you can find someone near you who uses the software you decide on, set up a few sessions to hang out in the studio and ask questions.

There are also countless threads in this site's production forum with various tips and tricks, so it's very much worth digging through them or using the search feature if you're looking for anything in particular.

Best to get yourself a midi controller to. Something that resembles a keyboard would be a good idea, that way you can actually touch something and learn something about music while you're at it.
