To each his own but , in my opinion , you may be missing the plot by posting this.

#1. In my opinion , glitch hop wasn't meant to be "for the masses" ... maybe i'm wrong and its just a new package to wrap pop samples in but I feel like it would be a sad fucking waste if this "sound" was unleashed on the public at large at this point in time.

There are reasons for these "underground" communities you know ...

they are built and maintained by people who dont want to be out at the "most popular club" in town and mixed up with that crowd and their top40 shallow media zombie perspectives ... trudging through the sludge of vanity and blind competition with people that ONLY care about "one up'ing" each other and who has the nicest car or fake tits or highest paying job.

#2. IF it were to be unleashed on the "masses" I would pray to the fucking glitch gods that it was with an artist that actually has some sort of vision and purpose inside them besides "feeding the streets" their meals ...

I dont know how old you are but the days of the "dungeon dragon" are LOOONG since past and busta rhymes , although technically proficient, is a hallow shell of what he once was in my opinion ... He's just trying to "eat" and get paid ...

True he'll still bring out a scratch DJ with him on tour (I saw him last year) but he's just giving the masses the generic club/vanity rhymes that continues to be force fed down the throats of the "western" civilizations.

Thats not to say that even in 94-98 he was ever much more than a classic battle/party MC but he certainly had much more originality and unique character back in the days of "the coming..." , native tongues and leaders of the new school.

That being said ...

Fuck feeding these mainstream cannibals another sound for them to water down and ultimately destroy by wearing it thin over and over and over again on the radio , TV and myspace 20 times a fucking day.

I'm closer to 30 than I am to 20 but irregardless of how "juvenile" this may sound ... I do NOT want these souless , shallow shells of human existence taking what I love and turning into another pile of perfectly packaged, watered down , and "cleverly marketed" consumable bullshit ... :fire:

Let the drama fiend, media zombies feast upon their own "kind" and stay the fuck away from me :guns:

so you are seriously saying you would rather bust your ass the rest of your life then make one or two glitchy beats for the masses to enjoy and then be set financially for a long long while?
check this link hear.. listen to the music in the vids .. http://bike.shimano.com/publish/content ... ideos.html
Im not saying Im sending my tunes to a A&R at a massive corporation, but coming up for creating music is a good thing in my eyes.

I said what I said ... interpret it as you will and want.

Whether you choose to believe it or not , chances are better than not , that I would not sell one of my favorite tunes to lil wayne to just talk a bunch of mindless shit over ... but thats just me. Again , interpret it as you will and want.

At the same time I am aware that if a pile of cash was sitting in front of my face I may crumble and take it , depending on how I was feeling and the position I was in on that day (like if I was living with my mother because I couldn't afford my own place).

I'm not a shaolin monk :) but atleast I try ...

EDIT:

I will add that I would do something like that ... I would definitely score a video / commercial for a company like shimano ... A company like wal-mart or mcdonalds or home depot on the other hand ... no and in fact I have purposely gone to the small independently owned hardware stores willing to spend more money just so that the "small guy" would get my dollars. Is this ALWAYS the case ... no. I'm a hypocrite at times like most of us ...

And again ... In my ideal vision of the world , if this sound were to make it to MTV and top40 radio I just pray that it was a vehicle for an artist with something on their minds other than "feeding the streets" and "popping bottles".

One could argue that glitch has already made it's way into the mainstream. I heard some pretty heavy whomp during a montage on an episode of CSI just the other day. What about edIT's remix of Artsy by the Grouch? Thet tune made it pretty far into the mainstream

Besides, if Busta Rhymes picked up some glitchy beats, people would just call it hip hop or pop like all the other trashy EDM with auto-tuned lyrics that is being played on the radio these days.

haha, man i'm old enough to have had this very debate about hip hop is how old i am

and its become such a cliche for every underground thing to not " be for the masses" in much the same way hip hop was not designed to be largely consumed by white middle class suburban teenagers, and jungle was not meant to have mutated into some sort of heavy metal electronica. just as much a cliche as it is to say "this is for us now fuck off",... but fair enough if thats how you feel.

i would argue that the reason underground communities come together is purely because you get to talk to like minded people about what you like, and find more of what you like rather than to purposefully get together to object to whatever is out there or to form your own version of an exclusive and excluding clique the likes of which you felt rejected from on the outside.

but it is an absolute certainty that if this sound has broken into the mainstream as Fonzie mentioned, then yes it will get watered down and filtered by default. its just the way it is.

its great that you're so passionate about it metaverse, but i'm sure even you know its going to happen.

and i agree, busta aint what he used to be, but if you look at his back catalog, while there are only a handful of hits, my point is that he does take risks on different sounding tracks, which is why i posted the message here.

you can be damn sure that had it been a lil wayne twitter i would have laughed and carried on surfing for kinky midget porn.

Have you seen EdIT's Scion Commercial?

Its pretty mainstream already if you ask me.

Take ur styles as far as u want for whoever you want... in my opinion.. mainstream music could use a new facelift... the beats are getting old... the auto tuned vocals are retarded... if u can't sing...don't. The lyrics are even older... Giving it a new edge would really be something to be heard... Money never hurts... some abuse it... some lose it... but me... i wouldn't mind having a studio on a beach front sipping a brew and watching my girl and child play in the water of a tropical nature... mainstream is wut it is... and knocking it doesnt change it.. but changing the music itself will... in my opinion

@Metaverse- quit yer bitchin and send dude a track if you're dope enough. If you don't like the music industry, ignore it. The deal is with this kind of thing, you have to be on your "A Game" to get someone to notice you, not only meaning does the beat have to be FIRE, your mix on it better be neck snapping too. No offense, but usually when I hear someone complain like this, it's because they don't have what it takes to get noticed on a serious level...

@yousuck... Dude, I'm collecting my hiphop beats and some of my newer glitchier attempts and will be submitting a couple tracks- did you shoot dude anything?

plus i actually have very little finished.

and i'm shy

but yeah if got something you might as well send it and hope it doesnt bounce back.
