ok so for starters the midi port on my trigger finger has always sucked. its always been loose and wobbly since i got it and the cord would easily pop out with some movement. well the other day i plugged in and nothing happened.. fiddled the cord a bit and it turned on but it wouldnt function properly.. i look inside the midi port and one of the 4 prongs fell inside the port and isn't making the proper connection... has anyone had experience replacing the midi port? if i get a new one how is the easiest way to get the old one off so i can solder the new one on?

second question.. i have an maudio fasttrack pro.. was working fine but now when i connect it to my comp it makes the sound like a usb cable was connected but then hits me with a TBIA message saying access is denied and won't recognize that it is connected. has anyone had this problem before and what can i do to fix it. i tried downloading and installing the newest driver and that didnt work. any other ideas?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. You can buy a Trigger Finger on Ebay or Craigslist for less than it would cost to fix it. If you don't have any electronics assembly experience this would probably be the best bet. Otherwise you're looking at cracking the case open, removing the broken midi port and replacing it with a new one. That could be costly, or it could end up just completely bricking your controller.

With the M-Audio Fast Track Pro, have you called customer service about this? Seems like that would be your first option.

The fast track pro issue is a new one with windows vista, I'm nearly 100% sure. You can only use it in the USB port you initially plugged it into when you first installed it. If you're sure you're plugging it into the original port and it keeps giving you trouble, uninstall the drivers completely, reboot, and then do the installation over again.

As far as the Trigger Finger, I think S.P.E.C.T.R.E. said on another thread he had several old ones that broke for other reasons? He might be able to help you out with finding parts or the repair process.
