Just purchased the AKG 242's and am super happy with bass, depth, and general sound.

Good luck!

I really like my Audio technica m50s. cheap and GREAT sound. Not as nice as open back but I need to use these on the go too so open back headphones were kinda out of the question

Hmmm yeah the open vs. closed is a bitch a. I really wanted closed ones so I could make beats while at the library studying, but in the end went with the semi closed AKGs. Just have to use my AKG 181 DJs in the library and check the sounds at home. Weird how different they are, the 181s completely muffle the mids/highs and stuff always sounds wayyyy harsher when I listen through the 242s.

I use Ultrasone Proline 650's for when I need to hear minute details and accurate audio. I love em, they sound very clean.

I use Ultrasone HFI-550 and Ultrasone DJ1.

It's a good idea to beg/borrow/steal a bunch of different headphones, including shitty ones, earbuds, sonys, skullcandys, whatever, and listen to your mixdown on a variety of sets.

been using in-ear monitors for ages,... sennheiser IE8's.

you'll love the bass for beat making, bass for the basshead. its got a little bass knob that lets you increase the bass.

i'm a bass junky and i keep the bass knob set at 0.

i'm about to upgrade to a pair of customs soon though,.... which is why i havent been hear, lurking in the headphones forum :ninja:

skullcandies might sound okay in the whole basscrushing area, but I hope you're not using them for critical listening or mixing or whatever as they're really more fashion pieces than tools.

But if it's just for listening to some sweet beats, then more power :fire:

Please return the skull candies. For music production, they are a joke.

Please invest in Ultrasone HFI-450s.

100 dollars, worth every penny.

Sennhieser is a good choice as well.

I actually used these during my last set when I borrowed them from my buddy. The sound definition was intense and the sub bass was pretty solid.

As always though, I still prefer the Sony MDR 7506
