WTF is up?

I have four cores, not too shabby. I can see 'em in the little Logic meter. I can also currently hear Kontakt 3 crapping out as I run a multi horn section, but literally only ONE of the CPU meters spikes and the rest are empty!!!
And this happens quite often.

What is the point of having four cores if my system only ever seems to use one?

Is there anything I can do to improve core distribution?

Is it something about Logic 8? Would upgrading really help?

the plugins themselves aren't multithreaded. typically your host divides its cpu usage by assigned each individual plugin to a respective core, but the plugin itself is NOT distributed. If you have a single plugin that uses a shit ton of cpu, it will eat up whatever core it has been assigned to.

on further inspection.. it WAS on.. but i suspected that the mojo horns library itself was not utilizing this.. so i opened two different instances of kontakt and split my mojo horns instruments between the two of them.. voila. Equal core distribution.
