So I want to run 1/8th --> xlr for a sub setup and XLR to my krk's parallel. By going from

1/8 to dual M XLR
1 XLR-->SUB
1 XLR---> Split to dual M XLR
Dual XLR > KRK's

How would my stereo pan work in that case. would it be messed up.

Other wise I could Just get two 1/8 > M XLR and then use a 1/8th female splitter. I think I would have to split the signal directly at the source to get dual outputs of Stereo?

If that doesn't make sense, the question is when splitting signals what is crucial to making sure I maintain the correct stereo output?

Edit: Before you say this, I dont have soundcard cuz the one I want isnt out yet, and my speakers arn't loud enough after being run through the sub crossover.

hmm... it sounds like you'd be sending one stereo channel to the sub and one dual mono to the KRKs. (depending on the type of splitters you're using.) the second option would work better as i understand it. you may want invest in a small mixer w/ four outputs in the meantime if possible.

First of all this really should be in the production section, so i am moving the thread. Second, what you are trying to do is all kinds of just plain wrong. The whole point of a crossover is to bleed out the frequencies that shouldn't be sent to the other speakers. You really don't want those sub frequencies trashing your KRKs like that. And furthermore, why does it need to be louder? If you are doing this as a production environment i would highly recommenced keeping the volume at a minimum for two reasons: 1) your ears, you only get one pair of ears, once they're fucked thats it, they're fucked. 2) often at lower volumes you notice more small details in your mix. When you have it cranked way up you will not notice these small details as easily.

If your REALLY MUST do this. Then definitely go with the second option:
1/8th splitter (first side) -> 1/8th to 2 XLR -> tops
1/8th splitter (second side) -> 1/8th to 1 XLR -> sub

Well I just thought of this now but i bought a sound card before and running the speaker through the card and crossover at full volume the speakers were almost barely audible in the sense that would be loud enough for quiet room. So it could have been the sound card that was giving me the volume problems but we will see. I want it louder for the purpose of small gatherings. Can I has it?

I don't understand. you did buy a new soundcard? or not? It is possible your current soundcard sucks. Tell us more about your setup though. what is your current soundcard, speakers, sub, os, etc.

Hmm I'm assuming the KRK's are powered, yes? If not, and you have no amp, then yes, it will be really quiet. Is the sub powered? Lots of powered subs have an adjustable crossover built in. If not, you'll need to buy a separate crossover. Then you would run your 1/8" splitting to 2 XLRs going into the crossover. Then one XLR for each KRK monitor. Hopefully, your crossover will be able to sum the output to mono (you always want your sub bass in mono), and you'll have one XLR output going to the sub or sub amp.

Hope that helps!
