Been getting a lot of PMs about various things, so I thought I would just clear everything up once and for all.

Sorry if this seems like spam to some people, I just want to be clear so I don't have to answer the same questions over and over again.

DJ/PA TEMPLATES FOR ABLETON

http://forum.ableton.com//viewtopic.php?t=49330

There are many different versions now. They are $30 each, or $50 for the lot. most people get the lot and then pick or mash them up into their own templates.

I also have:

Studio Templates (bussing, sampler multis, etc.) - $100
The ill.Gates Guide to Producing Electronic Music - $20
Ableton Racks for DJs + Producers- $20
Finished Track Folders for Some of my Releases - $75 each
...and I tutor, both in person, and over the phone, but not in the summers.

If you want to put together a package, just make me an offer.

You can pay via paypal at (remove spaces + numbers) the phat conductor ATTTTT h0t m417 DOT c0m

Be sure to cc me at (remove spaces + numbers) ill gates ATTTT the phat conductor DOTTT c0m to ensure speedy delivery.

Much Love!

I just wanted to give props to ill.Gates for putting together "The ill.Gates Guide to Producing Electronic Music". I've noticed that there are many new producers in the forum and have to say that it is well worth your $20. It will save you a ton of time and frustration when you are struggling to get your tracks sounding tight. I've been producing for 4 + years, and while a decent amount of the material was not new to me, it helped me better understand some concepts and gave me some fresh perspectives on producing. It will definitely be one of my go to resources when I feel stuck or uninspired in the future.

I know people aren't rolling in dough but everything gates has to offer is 100% worth it. I rotated through 5 or 6 people getting ableton advice as I was getting started and he so drastically exceeded my expectations.

Gates = best teacher and by far the best price/boom for your buck

Ill Gates is how I truely got my start.

Dylan Rocks and by reverse engineering his template I got mine down pretty damn solid.

@minnesota

What's ur question? any of us here can probably give you a hand. If your question is "should I buy his templates"?

YES, you should, it can only help.

i don't have his actual 'studio' template, but i'd imagine it's solid. i use basically every single one of the fx racks that dylan so graciously offers. it was a great way for me to learn how to build my own racks by emulating his techniques.

i also play live from a modified version of the ill.gates dj template. i have adapted it to fit my personal style over the course of using it for about a year. again, it's an excellent way to learn how to approach live performance and makes a nice bridge for less experienced dj's and producers.

def worth investment imo.

Yep. Got the guide to producing when I went to ill gates' workshop while he was in Melbourne.

As someone starting out, this has given me a huge helping hand.

Might have to pick up that guide.

Is it more beginner stuff? I've been producing for a good long while but I'm always down to learn something new.

Is there a list of available track folders? I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a couple tunes from Auto.Pirate.

I will definitely be purchasing... Someday...

no. not at all. this guide focuses on workflow/getting stuff done. it also has a lot of practical tips on mixdown, composition, philosophy, etc. but basically shows you the quickest way to finish a track and not waste time BSing. i would recommend this to the person that has never made a track, to the a great producer struggling to hit the charts.

best 20 bucks you could spend on production.
