Also have a shit load of max/msp programs that will now work with live with out a stupid serial. Here is the link and support companies like cycling'74. They make open source programs for you so you can make open source programs for others. They are not like these money hungry bitches @ ableton that just want to over charge for everything! That being said It still does cost alot for max/msp/jitter but you create other programs with it. they have free version (runtime) that will run the programs made by others.

ableton is and has been worth every penny. God forbid a company make a profit off software that has revolutionized the live performance game.

I think you might be reading into what I said too much. I never said ableton is not a good program or even that it is not worth the amount they charge. All I said is that ableton charges a lot, and this program should be included with the main program. I think everyone would agree that ableton is not cheap. I support open source programing to the fullest. If you buy a program you should have the right to change the program to what you want it be like exactly. Cycling'74 is a fairly small open source programing group that has amazing potential for sound design. All I am doing is showing support for a company that I want to continue making amazing programs and progress in open source. Ableton doesn't need any help with that. My problem is that I have max/msp/jitter 5 pretty much the same program that max4live is but I am going to have to pay another $200 to use the shit i have wrote in max with live. THey should have just incorporated max/msp compatibility but they want to make even more money so you have to buy a version that only works with ableton. Also i have paid for every version of ableton since live 4 and understand that it is probably the best DAW but I dont have to like what they charge.

they will no longer be doing runtime anymore soon, this includes ableton and the regular program! try it while you can! i know nothing about max programming whatsoever so here's to urkle
